 TRANS  Is a forum promoted by the Society for Ethnomusicology (SIbE) that seeks to encourage the dialogue and critical debate about the production of musical knowledge at a time that raises new problems and also demands new representations of music.

 TRANS  Publishes one volume a year, with no less than five articles in which to explore all kinds of music from trans-cultural and inter/trans-disciplinary perspectives.

 TRANS  Is an on-line journal that offers an instrument of instant communication for the academic community interested in music.

 TRANS  Publishes contributions about (ethno)musicology in general, critical and feminist (ethno)musicology, popular music studies, music aesthetics, cognitive ethnomusicology, etc., TRANS is particularly interested in the diffusion of original work on music in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America..

 
 

 TRANS  Aims at crossing borders and establishing alliances with fellow disciplines (anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, philosophy, cognitive sciences, semiotics, etc.), which could widen the epistemological boundaries of current musical knowledge. .

 TRANS  Is directed toward researchers, (ethno)musicologists, anthropologists, sociologists, musicians, and people who are in general interested in thinking about the meaning of music in contemporary society. (R.P.)
